Studio Tour of Hormazd Narielwalla

This week the Hollywood Road Arts Club attended a private show and studio tour of Hormazd Narielwalla’s latest series of work, ‘Le Petit Echo de la Mode’ titled after the eponymous Parisian woman’s weekly that featured in every issue patterns to make the most au courant fashions from the comfort of each Parisian’s foyer. The result is a brilliant, beautiful and colorful homage to fellow Paris based masters Picasso and Braque, whose first avant garde constructions born out of an effort to challenge the two diminutional constraints of the canvas resulted in the ground breaking movement which came to be known as ‘cubism’ and turned the academic art establishment on its head. Hormazd has found the innate beautify in each of these patterns, an elegant, beautiful and astute continuation of his work with patterns which has received loads of attention from the Saatchi Gallery, Nick Knight’s SHOW Studio and the grand dame of fashion blogging, Diane Pernet. Lucky for us, Homi opened his studio to us and gave us access to purchase his original collages, which will make fabulous Christmas gifts!
